Writers that inspire me to write…
I have been in the process of starting a blog for the past ten years. Which is such a long time that in the intervening decade, blogs have gone out of style and come back into style multiple times. BUT THIS IS THE MOMENT! This is the moment of follow through cuz what else do we have going on right now. (But really, what’s happening because my anxiety is through the roof)
As a voracious consumer of blogs, personal websites, aggregite sites, and any other repository of free, high quality information, I have longed believed in the benefit of combining knowledge with point of view. I mean, text books are great, and there are so many resources available to help expand knowledge, but seeing the way an individual encorporates insight into daily life is just the best.
I also firmly believe that everything exists in reference to everything else so I thought it would be useful to kick off these posts with a sampling of the many blogs/ thinkers that I write in reference to.
I don’t have any grand ideas about how to solve the persistent existential questions of classical music or opera, but I do believe that more conversations and more ideas is a net positive. So here’s me (as part of this wonderful project OSSIA) going online. And here are some people worth tuning into for inspiration! This is by no means a complete list. Just a place to start….
WILL ROBIN - START A BLOG!
TYLER COWEN | everything Tyler writes is smarter than it has to be.
AGNES CALLARD | not technically a blogger but a public philosopher that makes me smarter everytime I read her
ALEX ROSS | I have learned more about music from Ross than I ever did in my 8 plus years at conservatory…
MARIA POPOVA | A thinker who thinks about how to think
WESLEY MORRIS | brilliant on so many different topics
